Who knew that talking about germs could be so much fun? Well, thanks to Doctor Baskind, it was! We all learned some great ways to attack germs when they attack us. And, of course, we all enjoyed watching Dr. Baskind draw germs charging a castle!
The kids fired away with lots of questions, and Doctor Baskind helped us all understand how germs enter our bodies, why we get hot when we have a fever, and why people who are allergic to poison ivy are often allergic to mangoes! Even us grownups learned a lot.
Many thanks to Doctor Baskind for being such a great doctor – and such a wonderful friend to The Field Library! And special thanks to Patti Pelican, Community Outreach Coordinator for New York-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital, for reaching out to the library.
p.s. Did you hear the joke about the germ? Never mind. I don’t want to spread it around.
