Wow!  What a fabulous afternoon — with six enormously talented children’s book creators!

Pat Schories, Ed Young, Susanna Reich, Gary Golio, Mark Siegel and Nick Bruel all came to The Field Library on a cold and snowy day, and warmed us up with their stories and their passion for children’s books!

There was plenty of discussion – about story ideas, musicians, the Chinese Zodiac, upcoming books, and, of course, good dogs and bad kitties.  Lots of drawing, too!  We got to see sketches and thumbnails from our illustrators. And we even had a singalong!

Throughout the afternoon, authors signed books and talked to fans of all ages – and we all left feeling engaged and inspired!

A special thanks to Ed Young who had the idea of creating this wonderful event in which families get to know the authors and illustrators who live in their community. Big shoutout to Barbara Sarbin, Director of Educational Programs at Something Good in the World, for inviting us to partner with her on this event!  And finally, enormous gratitude to our fabulous authors and illustrators for sharing their time and talent with us!

Yes, we are still going ahead with The Story Begins: Bringing Children’s Books to Life! And yes, you can still meet six award-winning authors and illustrators tomorrow!

We realize the forecast isn’t perfect.  We will probably be getting a little snow (right now the forecast is for less than an inch during the day).   But since it’s not easy to get six very busy authors and illustrators to find a free afternoon… we are forging ahead (and hoping the snow is a no-show).

So bundle up, drive safely, and we’ll see you tomorrow!
