We celebrated the joys of reading BIG TIME at this year’s annual Summer Reading Game Party!  We ate pizza, popcorn, cookies and cupcakes!  We laughed with our Summer Reading buddies!  We got party bags! And boy, oh boy, did we dance-dance-dance!

There are so many people to thank, starting with The Peekskill Elks Lodge who have always supported The Field Library. They welcomed us to their wonderful lodge (the perfect party place) and helped us at every stage of the celebration.

Sending a special shout out to Mayor Rainey for gracing us with his presence and  his inspiring words. Of course, the kids had a blast when the mayor stepped out on the dance floor!

Thanks to the awesome DJ “Pete” Peterson for all the great tunes! Gratitude to Domino’s for donating half of the pizzas (yum!).

An enormous thank you to our summer volunteers who talked books, gave out prizes and helped to run the Summer Reading Game. A big pat on the back to the children’s room staff for all their hard work all summer long! And thanks to our director, Jennifer Brown, for her help and support.

Finally, kudos to all the kids who played our Summer Reading Game and earned their invitations by reading lots and lots of books! And thanks to all those parents who encouraged  their kids to read all summer long.

We couldn’t have done it without you! YOU ALL ROCK!

What an awesome time we had creating LEGO structures and coloring LEGO pictures at our Lego My Library Party. And kids weren’t the only ones creating. Parents joined in, too! Most people worked with their families or friends, and some LEGOed (yes, that’s a verb) alone. Everyone left with a bag full of LEGOs to bring home!

We had a huge turnout for last week’s Library Live with Animal Embassy! What a fabulous program with naturalist Chris Evers. We learned so much about animals, the environment, and even musical instruments from around the world! Thanks to Chris for his dedication to exotic animal rescue & adoption. A special shout out to to The Rotary Club of Peekskill for their generous Library Live funding. And finally, thanks to our enthusiastic audience!
