Lego My Library!

We had a big turnout for yesterday’s Mad Science!  We built lots of tall towers (some of which collapsed!) out of marshmallows and toothpicks, and had fun figuring out which shapes were strongest.  Gotta love those triangles!!

What’s the secret to building a sturdy structure?  Are squares stronger than triangles? How important is symmetry?  Come make a marshmallow structure and explore  science, engineering and architecture.   Yum!

Last week, The Field Library and Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art (HVCCA) co-sponsored a special program to honor the work of award-winning illustrator and author Faith Ringgold.  And this Sunday, the celebration continues!  HVCCA is hosting a reading of Ringgold’s Aunt Harriet’s Underground Railroad in the Sky.  Find out what started Ringgold’s interest in storytelling through books and art.

This event is FREE for Peekskill residents (with proof of residency).  Co-sponsored by The Field Library and HVCCA.  All ages are welcome!

Last week at Book Babies, we had a special guest visitor! After a storytime about bunnies, we had a big bunny hop on over to visit with the children and grownups!  What fun!

Thanks to Ray and to all our friends at the Senior Nutrition Center for sending us such a special visitor!
